A pop up camper makeover doesn’t have to be elaborate. There. I said it… now don’t hate me. 😉 A few weeks ago, I posted pictures of Kate’s Pop Up Camper Makeover on our Facebook page. Kate and her family wanted the sleeping comforts of a camper without all the glamour. They did an amazing, simplistic pop up camper makeover so their kids would still experience “the great outdoors” without any distractions. When Laura sent me her camper makeover, I was again reminded of just how beautiful a simplistic makeover can be. Laura’s camper has a few more amenities than Kate’s, but both have those clean lines and whimsical patterns that remind me of simpler times. Here’s Laura to tell us all about how she remodeled her pop up camper…
Last fall my husband and I decided we wanted to buy a pop up camper. Our budget was not as high as I would have liked it to be, but then my husband told me we could remodel it! I came across the makeovers from The Pop Up Princess and was excited to remodel a camper. We ended up buying a 1998 Coleman Seapine for $1800. It was mostly in good condition. It did have some mold on vinyl, and the floor was rotted a little in all the corners. We bought during the winter, so I just had to wait until spring arrived to remodel it. I spend hours on this blog getting ideas all winter long.
Isn’t it lovely? I love how minimalistic Laura’s pop up camper makeover is. It’s beautiful, simple, and perfect for experiencing the great outdoors with little ones. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing makeover with us, Laura. I just know your kids will completely forget about the hours of fabric shopping they had to endure once you get them out camping. It’ll all be worth it! 😉
Happy Camping!

Awesome! I”ve been wanted to do some remodeling to our popup, but my husband is against it. He said we are supposed to be ‘roughing’ it. well. . . . I’ve got to take things slowly. I will definitely show him these photos. Thanks!

Mine is the same way. He said that the men would laugh at him when he takes it hunting. I think this makeover looks just right though.

I love the neutral colors💛

What kind of fabric did you use? I was worried about types of material.
lAura says
I used upholstery fabric for the cushions, not sure the exact type. The curtains were just curtains from walmart.

Your remodel is great! Congrats!
How did you hang your curtains ?
Did you redo the countertops and table? If so which method did you use?
I like the cutting board idea
lAura says
For the curtains I actually just cut the tops of the old curtains off and sewed them on the back of the new curtains. I did it that way so I would not have to worry about replacing those hooks. We did not redo that table of counters. Eventually I would like to do that though. The cutting board was from Ikea. It was hard to find one large enough for that area.

Is the cutting board just laying on top of the cook top or is it adhered in some way?

It looks great! We are getting ready to start our remodel and I am trying to figure out what to do with the peel and stick vinyl. Some blogs removed all the cabinets and put it in that way, you just stuck it right to the top of the old stuff? Is it still holding up okay? I hope we can find some one clearance, too!! Fingers crossed 🙂

Found your article on Pinterest when I was searching “how to fix camper subfloor.” Thank you for posting about Git Rot!! I just ordered it. We have one spot that is super soft in one corner. I hope this does the trick.

I’m so excited I found this specific post!! We have this same exact pop up. Rescued it from a flooded field last October 2017. The 4 corners were rotted and we did buy all new canvas for it. The old one looked like a tiger was living in it and shredded it to pieces. That cost 1000 dollars but we only paid 180 for the camper so only about 1200 in it so far. I’ve given a budget now to do the floors and cabinets and painting and cleaning for under 500. Wish me luck!

We have a 2002 Sea Pine and I’m starting to dream about recovering the cushions. How much fabric did you use? I’m looking for a rough estimate to start from. Thanks!

Here is a link to a great calculator for estimating yardage, Kim. 😉

Just bought this exact model for about the same price from some friends! We won’t have the funds to remodel right away (and it is still fully functional so a remodel would just be for fun) but I’m loving this look!
